Intellectual Profile

1. Give some basic information about your studies and fields of interest: I am a sophomore in the Environmental Design school and my focus in that school will eventually be architecture.  I want to broaden my knowledge in the field of design so this is the first class related to art that I have taken other than the philosophy of art which i took first semester as a freshmen.2. Describe an exhibition that you liked or found impressive. Tell us why. Please provide a link to a website, if possible: I have never taken interest in art exhibitions but I look for innovative architecture projects all the time.  One architect who has done some very interesting stuff is Antonio Cardillo (  The designs I found most interesting are the Concrete Moon House, The Purple House, The Ellipse 1501 House, and Echoes.  I like the way he compliments straight edges and rigid boxes with curves and convexities.

3. Which books did you read of late (art, fiction, non-fiction)? Pick one and go into detail about it.: Honestly I don’t enjoy reading books. I read online articles and read articles in magazines just as regular but I’ve never really enjoyed books.  I regularly follow CNN, Archinnovations, NY Times, Formula 1, and NHL online.  As for magazines I receive Powder Magazine, National Geographic, Architectural Record, and ESPN.

4. What are your main interests besides art?: Art is a new interest to me and I’m not even sure if I will like it, I hope I do! I am             very interested in architecture though therefore I like drawing and designing.  I love to snowboard, hike, run, and be active.

5. Which blogs do you check regularly?: I don’t usually follow any blogs regularly however I end up reading them sometimes when looking for peoples opinions on products or topics.

6. Which cultural event has really impressed you lately? This can be a museum, a concert, or anything like that, but also a sports game (if you consider this a cultural event for which there are good reasons): A cultural event that shocked me lately was the insane hype over Tim Tebow.  So much of Colorado instantly became interested in the Denver Broncos all over one guy.  I find it amazing that someone can affect so many people and make them a part of something they never once were.

7. Please describe briefly an article in a newspaper or a magazine that got you thinking lately. Reading online is fine, and what you introduce here does not have to be about art. If the respective article is available online, please link to it!: An article that I found interesting was an article on how many Psycho-paths don’t end up in jail, but instead have great success in their lives.  This is why many people tend to think they have a psycho boss.  People with psychotic tendencies are often confident and deceptive and aren’t afraid to take risks because they don’t feel remorse.  Read more about it at

8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested: One thought or idea that has expanded my intellectual horizon is the idea that we are just a spec in the span of space and time. Space can never end because there is always something so how can we be the only intellectual beings in a universe that never ends? Therefore what is my purpose in this very small spec of life?  All I know is I will make it worth it while I’m here!

9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing: I have not been to any of these places but I really want to get to the Denver Art Museum because the architecture is very intriguing and I want to experience the building from the inside to know how it feels in the space.
