Amy Ferguson Intellectual Profile

1. Give some basic information about your studies and fields of interest.

I am a junior studying Studios Art. I am interested in illustrations for books as well as scientific and medical illustrations. Mixing my love and interest of art and science.

2. Describe an exhibition that you liked or found impressive. Tell us why. Please provide a link to a website, if possible.
Fox Games, Sandy Skoglund at the Denver Art Museum. I found the two tones color and use of the fox models around the large installation is fun to watch. The foxes are white and everything else in the installation is the same shade of red.

3. Which books did you read of late (art, fiction, non-fiction)? Pick one and go into detail about it.

I haven’t finished any books recently. A lot of text books get in the way of reading books that I wish to read. The book I want to read is about the French Symbolist. So far it is pretty good explaining the artist reasons on the colors and choices of art.

4. What are your main interests besides art?

My main interests besides art are electronics, and animal care. I always loved animals and they are a strong muse for me. Electronics have always been a fun thing to do on my friend time.

5. Which blogs do you check regularly?

I don’t think it counts towards a blog but I enjoy viewing CG Society. It is a wonderful site full of great artist and tutorials. There is always something good to read about current movies, video games and more. It is a wonderful read.

6. Which cultural event has really impressed you lately? This can be a museum, a concert, or anything like that, but also a sports game (if you consider this a cultural event for which there are good reasons). Or anything I am not even thinking of … Again, tell us why.

7. Please describe briefly an article in a newspaper or a magazine that got you thinking lately. Reading online is fine, and what you introduce here does not have to be about art. If the respective article is available online, please link to it!

While spending times with my parents I have had the time to read the Wall Street Journal. Many of those articles can make you think. There are a lot of interesting articles that don’t fall under economy and war. These articles range from things from fashion to the new types of synthetic sugars. Just reading them can make you think.

8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested.

One of the most recent thoughts and idea for my art was creating something beautiful out of something dark. This causes a lot of researching on things such as diseases and accidents.

9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing.
Same as number 2.Fox Games, Sandy Skoglund at the Denver Art Museum. It always stands out in my mind when I think of my many visits to the DAM
