Madison Goodman Intellectual Profile

1. Give some basic information about your studies and fields of interest.

I am a junior Sociology major looking to get into event planning/coordinating. I have always found interest in planning events and working with people. I am an outgoing person and I love to put my organizing skills to the test. In high school I used to plan school dances and after parties so since then I decided that coordinating was something I wanted to do. The reason I chose sociology as a major was because it is learning about people and how they function, along with the reasons for why, etc.

2. Describe an exhibition that you liked or found impressive. Tell us why. Please provide a link to a website, if possible.

I have never really been to an art exhibit. It is something that I have always wanted to do, because I have noticed that a lot of people enjoy it. I have just never found the time to do so.

3. Which books did you read of late (art, fiction, non-fiction)? Pick one and go into detail about it.

The most recent books that I have read are by the great author, James Patterson. I love his mystery, fictional, novels because they are based off of murders. Most of them have the same character in them, and each one tells different happenings with that same character. One for example is Jack and Jill, which tells a story about two different serial murders. Alex Cross, being the main character in most of Patterson’s novels is set out to solve both of the murders. One of the murders involves a little girl that attended the same elementary school as his son. That hits close to home for Cross so he becomes very determined to solve the murder in the best way possible. The next murder involves two people who call themselves Jack and Jill and go on a killing spree to murder high profile celebrities. This story is very intriguing and interesting to me because of how Patterson explains the story and the way that he puts all of the details in. I enjoy the way that Patterson writes because it keeps his readers guessing up until the end of the novel.

4. What are your main interests besides art?

My main interests are working out, sports, shoe shopping, and fashion.

5. Which blogs do you check regularly?

I don’t check many blogs on a regular basis. The main online sites that I visit are facebook and twitter.

6. Which cultural event has really impressed you lately? This can be a museum, a concert, or anything like that, but also a sports game (if you consider this a cultural event for which there are good reasons). Or anything I am not even thinking of … Again, tell us why.

A cultural event that has really impressed me lately would be the Broncos vs. Steelers game. The reason it impressed me was because of how hard the team worked and  how much heart they had during the game.

7. Please describe briefly an article in a newspaper or a magazine that got you thinking lately. Reading online is fine, and what you introduce here does not have to be about art. If the respective article is available online, please link to it!

I don’t really read newspapers or magazines.

8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested.

9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing.

I have not been to the Denver Art Museum.
