Give some basic information about your studies and fields of interest. Here at CU I am a communication major and have taken at least one course in the majority of fields offered here. I really learning about philosophy and psychology. I as recent as last semester I took my first art class and learn about the history of the postmodern and enjoyed the class and decided to take another.

Describe an exhibition that you liked or found impressive. Tell us why. Please provide a link to a website, if possible. Seeing as I am new to the art world from my last class I started to really get into architectural art and stumbled upon Christo and Jeanne-Claude and liked the wrapping of Reichstag. I found a lot of their works that I liked and went from there. http://www.christojeanneclaude.net/index.shtml

3. Which books did you read of late (art, fiction, non-fiction)? Pick one and go into detail about it. I do not read too many full books but mostly bounce around between shorter philosophical works. The last piece that I read and really enjoyed was Anselm: Basic Writings. The main idea of his writings get pretty religious considering that he is a monk. He takes about the origin of the world of uses greek and roman ideas to help prove his thoughts. One thing that he does that I really enjoy is that he talks about the origin of the world only using reason only, Not using the practices of the church. Therefore when talking about god and the world he takes it to a simpler level and just talks about what exists and why it exists.

4. What are your main interests besides art? The kinds of things that really interest me are any type of mythology, primarily greek and orcas really intrigue me.

5. Which blogs do you check regularly? I do not do any blogging or check any blogs.

6. Which cultural event has really impressed you lately? This can be a museum, a concert, or anything like that, but also a sports game (if you consider this a cultural event for which there are good reasons). Or anything I am not even thinking of … Again, tell us why. The recent cultural event that has impressed me is how the part of the nation that is involved in sports all followed Tebow and the Broncos. I believe that this is a cultural event because sports and the Broncos for that matter are a huge part of my life and something that I follow. Many would also agree that it is a large part of their culture as well. The reason that it impresses me is that people could care so much about one man. They loved him when he succeeded and tore him apart when he failed, there was no middle ground. In addition to all of that, sports then began to get a little controversial due to this man. He is a practicing Christian who has two parents as missionaries which ended up bringing religion into question as a reason for winning games, that it was built on faith. It was all very interesting to see how it all unfold week by week.

7. Please describe briefly an article in a newspaper or a magazine that got you thinking lately. Reading online is fine, and what you introduce here does not have to be about art. If the respective article is available online, please link to it! An article that I have read recently has to do with a law that just got passed in New Hampshire. The law allows for parents to make objections to school curriculums. Things like whether or not the parents believe in climate change can change whether it is taught or not. Sex education and evolution are also in question. Learning and allowing children to make up their mind for themselves is now under the likeness of their parents opinions and own shadowing beliefs. I think that their opinions and parental concerns should be involved but not law. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/04/new-hampshire-legislature-curriculum-objection-law_n_1184476.html

8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested. When I took a class on ethics I learned about the idea of “eudaimonia.” This idea comes from Aristotle and stresses the importance of living a good life for yourself and others. It is the highest form of happiness for all. Learning a little made me want to learn a lot and from there something that I want to live by. One word describing the best way to live your life expanding to what the world is about.

9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing. I have not been to any of these.
