  1. I am currently a junior with a studio art major with an emphasis in photography. I developed my interest in photography very early on and continue my exploration of the medium and the elements it has to offer. As an ardent traveler, my main focal point in my artwork relates to people and their culture. Some of my best works in the field were just recently displayed at a photography exhibit in Florence, Italy; where I spent my last semester studying abroad. Along with photography, I am very interested in the history of world art. I hope to integrate and progress my previous knowledge of art history from past studies and from my experience abroad in this class. Continue reading

I truly enjoy both areas of study very much so.  Continue reading

Since then my interests have been as diverse as the countries I’ve gotten the chance to visit. As a sculptor I’ve spent the last couple of years learning how to work with metal and wood and have used these skills to create kinetic machines as well as large-scale sculptures. Defining my “field of interest” has always been tough for me. I love art. The way it tells stories and emotions and ideas, the way it captures a moment of time, the time an artist spends with their crafts, pretty much everything about it. I am taking sculpture and photography as my emphasis here at CU, but also have spend quite a bit of time with ceramics, painting, drawing, and sewing crafts. I am also getting my Art History degree to compliment my Studio degree. Continue reading

1.  I am a senior and a studio arts major. My main emphasis has been in sculpture but what i love to do are installations and that is a big reason of why i love sculpture, because you can go crazy with it where it is not sculpture any more. I’ve been in the United States four years now and since coming from Greece with such a rich culture, that was my inspiration and influence in my art. The past two years i have still kept that influence but it has been changing excitingly in many directions where i have found myself experimenting each time with new materials in multiples and in a big scale in a minimalistic way.

1. I am now a senior here at CU, getting close which is both awesome and scary. My field of study is studio arts with an emphasis in ceramic sculpture. I started my artistic endeavors in photography around 2003 attending the Art Institute of Colorado (which in my opinion needs to have the name art taken out of its name), graduating with a decent portfolio focusing in fashion. I spent a few years assisting in New York, finding that it wasn’t what I was looking for as a career, and that I wasn’t finished searching for an artistic voice. In 2007 I moved to Breckenridge, where I took a class in ceramics and here I am 5 years later, working to refine that voice and navigate my way into the best possible mindset and situation to leave school to a long career spent in the studio

I am a third year English/Creative Writing major specifying in poetry.  The focus of my studies have been predominantly contemporary poetry, minimalism, and the New York School.  I am taking Contemporary Art because the University has forbade me from taking any more classes within the English Department, which I consider extremely nonsensical.  I understand, however, the university’s drive to graduate a body of students who are multi-capable.  The prospect of taking only non-English classes from now on logically led me to the Art History and Studio Arts Departments, in which Continue reading

1. Right now I’m a studio arts major, but I plan to transfer into the School of Architecture and Planning at the beginning of next year or in the summer. I hope to major in Architecture and minor in Fine Arts. I’ve been interested in pursuing a profession in the architecture field since about 6th grade, and the more I tried out other subjects to see if there was more interest in another field, the more it reinforced my love and confidence in the architecture world. Some of my other interests include drawing, reading, travelling, and going to the movies. Film is something that I’m really passionate about too. So much so, that I briefly considered minoring in film studies. Travelling is also something I love and would like to do more of. Especially to the less visited areas, those seem to interest me the most. For example I would really want  to visit Scotland, Romania, Iceland, Sweden, Toronto, Montreal (which I hope to visit this summer), Argentina, and Nova Scotia.

Photography is still a passion of mine but art history was something I have always enjoyed learning about and I knew it would open up some other doors for future opportunities in the art world. Since I have been at CU I have taken a lot of interesting classes outside my major, including sociology and cultural anthropology classes. I believe these can all tie into art history studies because art reflects the times. Studying art just as you would study human behavior, and cultures, gives me an interesting insight into the human race, then and now. Continue reading
