Profile

All participants of this class introduce themselves. Check instructor’s homepage here.

Please answer the following questions in a post; start each answer with the number of the question.

Title the post with your name and don’t forget to categorize your post as “intellectual profile” before you publish it.

Add an image or two: click on the first of the five icons next to Upload / Insert above the editing toolbar.

Allow an hour or two for this questionnaire. The effort you put into answering the questions and the willingness to share your intellectual profile will be a first sign of your dedication to this class. Remember, this will serve the intellectual exchange among students – so give your peers something to respond to. After you have posted your profile, look up your peers’ posts and comment on them.

1. Give some basic information about your studies and fields of interest.

2. Describe an exhibition that you liked or found impressive. Tell us why. Please provide a link to a website, if possible.

3. Which books did you read of late (art, fiction, non-fiction)? Pick one and go into detail about it.

4. What are your main interests besides art?

5. Which blogs do you check regularly?

6. Which cultural event has really impressed you lately? This can be a museum, a concert, or anything like that, but also a sports game (if you consider this a cultural event for which there are good reasons). Or anything I am not even thinking of … Again, tell us why.

7. Please describe briefly an article in a newspaper or a magazine that got you thinking lately. Reading online is fine, and what you introduce here does not have to be about art. If the respective article is available online, please link to it!

8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested.

9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing.

If you haven’t done so yet, please upload a portrait of yours that will appear next to your future posts so that we all know who is speaking. You can upload an image if you go to your profile under users.

the rum diaries by hunter. dont let the movie get you down, its a good good book that definitely speaks to a 22 year old kid at the beginning of adulthood. invisible monsters by chuck palinhuk. it made me hate everyone, a quick and dirty read. entertaining.

the performing arts have been bumming me out lately. it seems like people won’t admit when a concert or piece of art or anything is actually not very good because it somehow is a blow to their ego to admit that they weren’t part of something amazing, and they wasted their money to go see it. i had my heart broken seeing a few bands that i looked forward to seeing live for years, only to realize after a few shows that they really couldn’t hold it down. it just sounded bad. its one thing to make a record in a studio, but if you can’t play it live, it really takes the magic out of the record too. OH YEAH MAN THE SHOW WAS SICK!!!! BEST SHOW IVE EVER SEEN YEAH!!!!! THAT MOLLY WAS SO GOOD TOO!!! please, enough of that. im looking forward to seeing radiohead for the last time at the 1st bank center, the king of limbs should be an incredible thing to see live. heavy sounds

the wall street journal makes me realize there are problems in the world bigger than i can comprehend. the people in power have very very tough decisions to make, and i am not envious of any of those men or women.

    8. Please share with us a thought or an idea that really widened your intellectual horizon. Again, this must not be limited to the visual arts. If possible, give a source for this idea so that others know where to go to if they are interested.

be the change you want to see in the world

    9. Have you been to the Denver Art Museum, MCA Denver and BMoca Boulder? Describe one art object or a show you remember seeing.

  3. Once we click on “ARTH3539-001″ theres no where to scroll to? i dont see a “new” link.

  4. I think we’re all going to have to be invited to join the blog. There is no option when clicking ARTH3539 because we are not all authorized to be authors…until then we can only leave comments. This is not operator error.

  5. Amy Kaliski is right we do not have authority to post on this blog until it is given to us.

    • Students,

I apologize. Kira set up this blog without informing me of her security settings. I am working to fix this issue as quickly as possible. Currently, my plan is to invite you all through your .edu email. Keep a look out for my email.
